How to pick the appropriate death items? 

Take you highest value item you want to keep and multiply its value by 2.1. The resulting value must be lower than EACH
death item’s value multiplied by 0.9. If the value is higher, you need to switch to a higher-value set of death items or risk 
losing your item. There is ONE exception to this rule of thumb … GREATER MANA CHARGES do not lose their value after the 
1st one drops as will ALL OTHER death items. Therefore, if you carry an appropriate number of Greater Charges (NOT 
GREATER MANA STONES), you can cover items up to 5,500p * .9 = 4,950p in value. 

Note, Mastery Robes DO NOT have to be of different types/colors … just follow the rule above. Further, you don’t have to 
have a variety of death items … just stockpile enough whose values meet the criteria above. 

If you chose not to use death items, comps will drop, but only ONE of each type (you can lose one of each scarab type, 
except plats). At higher levels, you can lose items sub 50p with this option b/c there are not enough scarab types to go 
around … so use society items at 1p for dropless boots for example. 

How many death items should you carry? 

Round your level to the nearest 10, then divide by 10 and add 2. The resulting number is the MINIMUM number of death 
items described above that you should carry. Recommended is to carry at least two deaths worth of items not just for 
security in corpse retrieval, but b/c the MORE death items you have the LOWER the chance you will drop your “coverable” 
items. This point is very important! Your chances of dropping an item go down CONSIDERABLY the more death items you 
can stockpile. 

For example, when I was trying to cover a 22k hauberk with 1 death’s worth of mastery robes, I dropped the hauberk 
10%-20% of the time … but with two death’s worth of mastery robes, I dropped the hauberk 1%-3% of the time. Note, 
I tested the drop of the hauberk over a 4-month period, as well as in @lifestone tests.
